RentABayNC Shop Rules

These rules are part of your agreement with the Shop. Shop staff can stop your work if they are broken.

Before you start

  1. Show your photo ID at check-in on your first visit. You must be 18 or older.
  2. Everyone in the work area signs the waiver or the helper form first. Friends who only wait stay in the customer area.
  3. First time on a lift? Get the staff safety walkthrough before you use it. It is free.
  4. Your own vehicle only. No work for pay, no work on other people's vehicles, no repair or resale business out of the bay.

While you work

  1. Support the vehicle. Use jack stands or the lift locks before you go under anything. A jack alone is never enough.
  2. Eye protection and closed-toe shoes every time. Tie back long hair and loose clothing.
  3. No alcohol, drugs or impairing medication.
  4. No welding, cutting or grinding with sparks. No painting or body-filler work. No smoking or open flame.
  5. No high-voltage hybrid or electric system work. No airbag handling. No venting refrigerant.
  6. Ask first before pulling an engine or transmission, or doing fuel-system work.
  7. Running engines: keep the door open and the exhaust vented. Never leave a running vehicle alone.
  8. The tire machine, wheel balancer and A/C machine are not for customers. Ask shop staff.
  9. No food or drink in the bays.
  10. Keep walkways clear. Coil your air hose. Do not leave tools or parts on the floor.

When you finish

  1. Fluids go in the marked containers, never on the floor, drain or ground. Clean up spills with absorbent.
  2. Leave the bay clean: swept, tools put away, trash out. Take your old parts, tires and batteries with you.
  3. Leave on time. Staying late can cost the next customer their booking, and overtime applies.
  4. Your car stays at your own risk. Cars may stay overnight only on a weekend pass or monthly bay.

Emergencies

  1. In an emergency call 911, then tell shop staff. Fire extinguishers and first aid are marked on the wall.
  2. Tell shop staff about any injury, spill or damage right away, even a small one.
